Epoida

Huge and round-bodied, Epoida lets long, curly orange hair tumble to his waist, where it perpetually hides his eyes, beneath a white brimmed hat. His nose is round and pinkish-orange, his arms long and thin against his bulk, and his striped green and turquoise shirt is divided into segments so that his whole frame resembles a caterpillar. In his earlier Whitebeard days he was seen in polka-dotted and vertically striped tops.

Epoida is a daring fighter who keeps his nerve in dire moments, grinning and charging ahead even against the might of Marine Headquarters. He holds loyalty and friendship in high regard, risking everything to answer Whitebeard's call to rescue Ace, and could not hold back his tears when Blackbeard struck the emperor down. Even he, however, was wary of Monkey D. Dragon's fearsome name.

Some thirty years ago Epoida was already among the Whitebeard Pirates when they first reached Wano and met Kouzuki Oden, who fought them and then begged to join. He sat beside the persistent Oden at the welcoming feast, watched in shock as Oden was dragged off the departing Moby Dick, and cheered him through the three-day endurance test that won him a place in the crew. He raised his hand in agreement when Whitebeard chose to split the pirates into divisions, fought the Roger Pirates over three days and nights that ended in a friendly gift exchange, and bid Oden farewell when he sailed off with Roger. Later Epoida formed his own crew, kept it subordinate to Whitebeard, and built an infamous New World reputation. At Marineford he and forty-two other allied captains ambushed the Marines, charged across Aokiji's frozen sea, and joined the desperate push to free Ace, with Epoida shielding Luffy alongside the other captains. After Whitebeard died at the hands of the Blackbeard Pirates, Epoida wept with his comrades and watched Shanks bring the war to a close.
