The 553rd chapter of One Piece launches the Summit War in earnest, as Aokiji freezes Whitebeard's twin tsunamis, the Emperor strikes back, and division commanders Jozu and Marco reveal their powers against the admirals.
With two tsunamis bearing down and the Marines in a panic, Aokiji dissolves from his seat and flash-freezes both waves with Ice Age, drawing waves of relief. Whitebeard dismisses him as a little rascal as the admiral hurls ice spears, but the Emperor halts them and cracks the air to snap Aokiji in two. The admiral crumbles, reforms near the water, and freezes the entire bay solid, fashioning an icy battlefield that anchors the ships in place.
As the Marines open fire on the stranded vessels, Whitebeard's allies leap out to fight. The Vice Admirals of headquarters drop down in a sword-bearing line, a formation the pirates liken to a Buster Call, and Tsuru is warned to keep clear, though she answers that no corner of the seas would ever be safe.
The full force of fourteen commanders pours off the ship to lead the charge into the war. Mihawk draws Yoru and tells Doflamingo he wants to measure himself against Whitebeard, sending a massive flying slash that is intercepted by Jozu, the Third Division Commander. Kizaru then fires a shower of light bullets at the Emperor, only for Marco, the First Division Commander, to spring up and smother the barrage in blue flames. Kizaru remarks that the Whitebeard Pirates are frightening people.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...
The color spread cover shows the Straw Hats enjoying ice cream, a panel that contradicts Oda's later claim about which members dislike it. The chapter confirms Jozu's diamond-coating ability and Marco's blue-fire power. Vice Admiral Onigumo is also seen sprouting six extra arms from his back, letting him wield eight swords at once.
The Summit War, chronicled starting in Chapter 553, is the massive Marineford battle pitting Whitebeard's pirate armada, joined by Luffy's allies, against the Marines and Warlords in an effort to save Ace from execution.
Aokiji uses his Ice Age ability to flash-freeze both of Whitebeard's incoming tsunamis, halting the waves and later freezing the entire bay solid to trap the ships in place.
After Aokiji hurls ice spears at him, Whitebeard cracks the air with his Gura Gura no Mi power and splits Aokiji's body in two, though the admiral simply reforms near the water.
Jozu, the Third Division Commander, reveals a diamond-coating ability strong enough to intercept Mihawk's flying slash, while Marco, the First Division Commander, smothers a barrage of Kizaru's light bullets in blue phoenix flames.
Dracule Mihawk draws his sword Yoru and tells Doflamingo he wants to measure himself against Whitebeard, unleashing a massive flying slash that Jozu intercepts before it can land.
