Howling Gab

Gab is a big, dark-skinned man whose shaggy dark brown hair, short beard, and pointed teeth lend him a distinctly lion-like cast. He appeared at Marineford draped in what resembled a brown cape. Later, during the From the Decks of the World cover story, he was seen in a white t-shirt with a backpack, and in the Elbaph Arc he took to wearing a cloak.

For all his fearsome looks, Gab is good-hearted and somewhat shy. He is squeamish about insects and frightened of ghosts.

Ranking among the crew's senior officers, Gab holds command over the lower members and counts as a strong fighter in his own right, with Commodore Brannew noting the high average bounties across the whole crew. He can roar out cutting blades of air from his mouth and is also able to inflict paralysis. He first surfaced at the Summit War of Marineford, arriving with Shanks and the other officers and poised to step in if the battle dragged on. After the timeskip he turned up among crewmates at an island ruin, delighted to read of the Straw Hats' rising bounties.

A week past the Onigashima raid, the crew sailed for Wano, where Gab and the others were let down by Shanks deciding it was not yet time to reunite with Luffy. Gab explained that Bartolomeo had burned their flag to fly the Straw Hats' mark instead, prompting Shanks to settle the matter and declare the moment had come to seize the One Piece. In the Final Saga the crew dropped Marco at Sphinx, celebrated at Elbaph with the giants, and watched from the Red Force as Shanks crushed the Kid Pirates, before later punishing Bartolomeo and the Barto Club on Gartel Island.
