Gangaru is a Wano samurai who rode with the Beasts Pirates. He once stood among the Mimawarigumi under Kurozumi Orochi, but switched sides the moment Orochi appeared to fall.
Standing a touch above average height and usually hunched forward, Gangaru hides much of his head beneath a blue samurai helmet. He wears a pale blue kimono patterned with clouds, a white cloak edged in black spikes, and bulky gray shoulder pads, with geta on his feet.
Gangaru was apparently faithful to Kurozumi Orochi while his master lived, yet he abandoned that allegiance for the Beasts Pirates the instant Orochi seemed dead, brushing aside the samurai code of honor. When one of Kaidou's followers cornered him afterward, he wore a worn, beleaguered look rather than any defiance.

As a Mimawarigumi member, Gangaru is taken to be a competent samurai, and he fights in the One Sword Style, wielding a katana alongside a rectangular shield he can use to parry incoming blades. Even so, he proved badly outmatched against the legendary Hyougoro.
After the Straw Hats triggered chaos in the Flower Capital during Yasuie's execution, the Mimawarigumi were dispatched to patrol the streets. Offered the choice to bow to the Emperor or fight, the Mimawarigumi pledged loyalty without protest, and a Beasts Pirate slung an arm around Gangaru in relief. When the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance stormed the island, Gangaru fought on the Beasts Pirates' side, was forced to turn on both allies and foes after Queen's Ice Oni virus spread, and was ultimately swept aside along with his comrades when the revitalized Hyougoro overwhelmed them.
