Appearance

Long white hair spills down Haredas's back, matched by an equally long white beard. He dresses in wizardly fashion, a blue pointed hat above a robe of the same color that reaches his feet. The two versions of the character differ in build: the manga draws him fairly tall, while the anime makes him short. His eyes sometimes grow wide and gleaming, much like Nyon's when she gushes over Hancock.

Personality

Carefree and cheerful, Haredas tends to smile his way through life, often a little absent-minded and prone to repeating things he has already explained. His patience is remarkable; even as Nami treated him roughly and ungratefully, he kept up his warm, friendly manner. He has a quirk of greeting people with a long stuttered string of "oi, oi, oi" rather than a single call. His scientific mastery of Weatheria's weather arts is considerable, enough to mentor Nami in the craft, and in the anime he surrounds himself with a bubble barrier that shields him from the island's extreme conditions.

History

Haredas was born on Birka roughly ninety-seven years ago and threw himself into weather science at fifteen. He helped build the artificial sky island of Weatheria, finished when he was thirty, and a year later began recording the world's weather. Four years before the present, Bartholomew Kuma sought him out in a failed bid to cure Sapphire Scales.

After the Sabaody Archipelago disaster scattered the Straw Hats, Nami landed on Weatheria, and Haredas showed her around, demonstrating how to summon everything from gentle breezes to fierce squalls with the wind knot. When she was jailed for stealing equipment, he took pity after hearing of Luffy's grief over Ace and released her, only for Nami to kidnap him and the stolen goods. He agreed to teach her about the New World's climate but scolded her for imagining the Weather Ball as a weapon. He eventually delivered her back to Sabaody, and as the crew departed for Fish-Man Island, the Weatheria scientists conjured rain to ruin the Marines' gunpowder, with Haredas watching through a telescope and wishing Nami well.

Later he and his peers donned new clothes hoping to impress Nami on her return. During the Egghead arc he was brewing potions when Vegapunk's broadcast played, and afterward he was contacted, to his complete shock, by Edison.
