Beef cuts a cowboy figure: a heavyset, dark-skinned man crowned with horns, his face framed by a dark beard and mustache. A straw hat fitted with goggles sits on his head. Racing is no game to Beef, and he will resort to harsh tactics to pull ahead of rivals. Seizing the lead fills him with delight.

Beef ranks among the most capable Turtle Car racers, one of only three drivers to reach the finish and one of just two who never left the track. His massive vehicle lets him shove competitors aside with ease, and he lost by mere centimeters. At Gran Tesoro, he and Pork caught the front-runner Whitejack and rammed him off course, though Count Times soon overtook them. When the Straw Hats closed in, Beef ordered Pork to hurl a hay bale that sent their car spinning away. He and Count Times ran nearly even down the stretch, but the Straw Hats surged back onto the track and edged past both at the line.
