A komainu the size of several grown adults, Komachiyo has stayed at Kurozumi Tama's side since they were both young. Based in Wano's Kuri region, the loyal beast doubles as Tama's mount and her guardian against the Beasts Pirates.
Towering over an ordinary person by several times, Komachiyo is a four-legged komainu whose form blends traits of a lion, a dog, and a pig. Flame-like tufts make up its coat, and a pair of stubby fangs juts from its mouth.
During its puppyhood, the creature stood only about as tall as Tama herself and carried far less fur than it does as a full-grown animal.
Devotion defines this komainu. It threw itself at a rampaging baboon belonging to the Beasts Pirates to shield Tama, ferried her on its back, and gave chase to Gazelleman when she was carried off. Tenderness shows through as well, since the beast visibly relaxed once Tama recovered from her illness. Komachiyo also tolerates passengers tucking themselves away inside it, as happened when Tsuru took refuge within its tail.
Komachiyo grew up alongside Tama's relatives while still a pup, and after she was left an orphan it refused to leave her even when she could barely scrape together enough food for them both. The two ended up under the protection of Tenguyama Hitetsu following Tama's first meeting with him. When Beasts Pirates sentries menaced Tama, the komainu clashed with their baboon guard Hihimaru, a brawl that flung Komachiyo into the Thousand Sunny. Once Tama tamed the baboon, the two beasts carried her and Luffy to her master, and the rivals became friends after she fed Hihimaru a dango.
Across Kuri the komainu served the Straw Hats as a steed, hauled allies clear of Basil Hawkins, and joined the pursuit of Gazelleman through Bakura Town. It later survived Kaidou's destruction of Oden Castle thanks to Shinobu sinking the group underground. On the day of the Fire Festival, Komachiyo reached Onigashima together with Tama and the baboon Hihimaru, snatching two Straw Hats away from the Tobiroppo Ulti and Page One. Ulti eventually caught the beast, headbutting it and kicking it senseless before Hamlet dragged it clear of the flames. A week afterward it took part in the alliance's victory feast, and in the Final Saga it watched Tama's ninja training and chased a sword thief alongside Yamato. Its bulk lets it bear several riders at once, while biting serves as its main attack, and it once held its own against a prized Beasts Pirates baboon.
