Kuromarimo

Afros dominate Kuromarimo's design from head to toe. His long orange cloak is lined in white and trimmed with black afros at the ends and white ones hanging in front, while his gloves, leaving only the thumbs bare, are themselves shaped like afros. A big black afro tops his head, with three little ones dotting his beard. Average in height and weight, he sports an orange-and-white shirt with pale yellow buttons over orange shorts, his hairy legs showing above white-laced black boots. The whole effect evokes a boxer.

Selfish and proud, Kuromarimo carried out each of Wapol's orders without question, the doctor roundup included, and dismissed conscience as worthless to his kingdom's politics. Even so, his loyalty to the king ran deep, and he grew anxious when Luffy flung Wapol into the sea. A heavy drinker, he used to coax Dalton into sharing a bottle rather than tackling the kingdom's troubles back during their days as officials. He meshed easily with Chess, who matched his temperament, yet he treated Dalton more mildly after the rebellion, only roughing him up a bit when pressing him to apologize.

Holding the post of magistrate and administrator over the Drum Kingdom gave Kuromarimo broad influence with the king and authority over the people, all of which he lost on fleeing with Wapol, recovered upon returning home, and surrendered for good when Dalton claimed the throne. He carried weight within the Bliking Pirates as well. A strong and capable fighter, he routed a force of Drum Island watchguards and a pack of lapahns, and could shrug off a tree-toppling lapahn strike to rise again. He boxes with gloved fists and manipulates his afros in many ways, jutting spikes from them, launching them, or binding foes. Bikkuri Marimo bares those spikes to crush an opponent, while Eleki-Marimo hurls a hairball that clings through static, its flammable fluff making an easy target for Chess's Checkmate.
