Appearance

In human form Kyros is a broad, heavily muscled man with long flowing hair and an upward-pointing beard. He once wore a classic gladiator's helmet, a cape, and metal wristbands while carrying a sword. A scar marks his forehead from his final colosseum bout against the disguised King Riku, and he later lost his left leg sacrificing it to save the king.

As the Thunder Soldier he became a small wooden figure whose body resembled a dark four-buttoned uniform. He had a blocky head with square eyes, painted blush marks, a hinged mouth, and lanky limbs wound by a key on his back. A round hat reading SOL sat atop him, a stub remained where his leg had been, and he balanced awkwardly on a single roller skate while carrying a toy rifle.

Personality

In his youth Kyros was a brutal killer, taking lives in vengeance for a slain friend and in self-preservation, yet he came to feel deep guilt over his criminal past. So ashamed was he that he avoided touching loved ones with bare hands and dreaded being remembered only as a murderer. Defiant toward authority, he also took genuine pride in bringing joy to people as a toy and bristled at being called too serious, even while accepting that grim duty sometimes demanded it.

Kind to ordinary folk, he mourned that his toy body could neither shed tears nor feel a person's warmth. Toward Rebecca he was fiercely, even overbearingly protective, performing songs and silly poses to cheer her and striking down anyone who made her cry. In combat he is savage and unrelenting, driven above all by his determination to protect those dear to him.

History

Raised in the slums, Kyros killed two men at fifteen and struck King Riku Doldo III when the king approached him, yet Doldo spared him and took him in. Becoming a gladiator, he won battle after battle, defeated even a giant and a fish-man underwater, and amassed 3,000 victories to be hailed a legend. The strongest fighter the colosseum ever saw, he wielded a blunt sword with peerless skill before leaving to become captain of Dressrosa's army at twenty-five.

After saving the princess Scarlett from pirates he won her love, and the Riku family faked her death so the two could marry and raise their daughter Rebecca in a flower field. When Doflamingo seized the kingdom, Kyros confronted him at the burning palace, severed his own chained leg to attack, and was promptly turned into a toy by Sugar, wiping all memory of him. Because Sugar neglected to bind him by contract, he kept his free will.

For a decade he raised Rebecca and trained her as the Thunder Soldier while plotting against the regime. He devised Operation SOP, the daring uprising that broke Sugar's hold and freed her countless victims. Restored to human form, he beheaded a string clone of Doflamingo, reunited tearfully with Doldo and Rebecca, and avenged Scarlett by defeating Diamante. After the Warlord's fall, he chose to live openly alongside his daughter.
