The Riku Family is the royal line that ruled Dressrosa from the World Government's founding until roughly a decade ago. Cherished for their generosity, they were cast down by Donquixote Doflamingo's scheme and regained the throne only after his defeat.
From the age when the World Government first came together down to about ten years before the present day, this bloodline wore the crown of the Dressrosa Kingdom. Their claim arose when the Donquixote Family walked away from the country to take up residence in Mary Geoise, placing them among the new royal houses that stepped in for nineteen of the twenty founding kings. Generosity and warmth marked their time on the throne, and despite commanding little fortune themselves, the family poured its energy into aiding nearby nations. Once Donquixote Doflamingo was beaten and taken into custody, the Riku line was returned to power over Dressrosa.
Eight hundred years back, the earliest King Riku learned of the enslavement the dwarves had endured under the prior rulers, offered them a genuine apology, and granted them free rein to take whatever they needed from humans, weaving the story that these vanishings were the doing of fairies. Under the reign of Riku Doldo III, the fighter Kyros rose to captain the royal army and to guard the princesses Scarlett and Viola; he and Scarlett came to love one another, but his record as a criminal ruled out a lawful wedding, so she staged her own death and slipped away with him. Ten years ago Doflamingo came back to claim the crown, twisting Doldo with his power into striking down his own people until the king seemed a greedy despot, stripping him of his subjects' faith and driving him into hiding. Scarlett was slain afterward by the Donquixote Family, and Kyros, transformed into a toy, took in and raised her daughter Rebecca.
Riku Doldo III heads the family as its patriarch and the former king of Dressrosa. Its recognized relatives take in his daughters Scarlett and Viola along with his granddaughter Rebecca. Kyros belongs to the house too, joined to it by wedding Scarlett and by fathering Rebecca. Following Doflamingo's downfall, the people implored Doldo to reclaim the crown, and three days on he was restored to the throne with Rebecca proclaimed crown princess. Rebecca, however, chose to hand that role to her aunt Viola so she could stay beside her father. She had spent years compelled to battle as a gladiator inside the Corrida Colosseum, taking the D Block in the tournament whose prize was the Mera Mera no Mi, even as scorn was heaped upon her lineage.
