Appearance

Lake is a youthful figure whose hair is red and whose eyebrows are dark. His most recognizable feature is a set of oversized sideburns, growing thick and long, tapering to sharp points, and curling back in toward his face. So strong was the likeness that Ian and the Pumpkin Pirates took him for his grandfather Wetton.

Personality

Lake takes after his father Flip in his habit of letting secrets slip. A streak of greed shows too, since he paused mid-brawl to scoop a coin off the ground. For all that, he proves warmer and more approachable than either his father or his grandfather, freely telling the Straw Hats about the Rainbow Mist and extending citizenship to them once the tax was settled.

Abilities

Lake never showed any fighting prowess of his own, leaning instead on his Electric Suit, a head-only mecha rig functioning much like a powered exoskeleton. Its weakness is that it stays useful only while the Dynamo Team feeds it a constant charge. Powered up, the suit is wrapped in electricity that jolts anyone who touches it, enough at full strength to make Chopper's fur bristle and ruin Nami's hairstyle. Among his named techniques are Rolling Thunder, which sends an electric bolt that explodes where it lands, and Dragon Spark, which pins an enemy between two rods and shocks them with the current arcing across.

During the Ruluka Island Arc he first appears demanding the Straw Hats pay a docking toll, calling himself the mayor's grandson, and rushes them in his suit until Sanji learns the charged shell makes him untouchable. The crew runs, and his dependence on the Dynamo Team's gear keeps him from chasing far. He keeps after them until a coin flicked by Rapanui Pasqua hits him, which he mistakes for their tax, then welcomes them as citizens and blurts out the truth behind Henzo and the Rainbow Mist, naming his grandfather, who appears to scold him for loose lips before revealing himself as Wetton. In the end Lake is beaten and jailed together with his father and grandfather.
