Mad Treasure is the central villain of the special Heart of Gold and captain of the Treasure Pirates. A famed treasure hunter wielding the chain-creating Jara Jara no Mi, he is hired by Gild Tesoro to track down the legendary Pure Gold.
Treasure is a heavily muscled man with skin rendered dark in most depictions and paler in Oda's own designs, topped by a mane of wild, spiky purple hair. Pink eyes hide behind his sunglasses. He goes shirtless, with dark gray knee-length pants cinched by a red belt and red-lined gray boots, and his frame is wrapped in the chains he conjures with his Devil Fruit. Gear tattoos with spirals inside them mark his left shoulder and right hip.
Greedy and thrill-hungry, Treasure is consumed by a near-deranged dream of seizing every treasure in the world, whether by finding it or stealing it. Curiously, the loot itself bores him; the chase is the only thing he prizes, and he craves the rush of the hunt above all. He wants the Pure Gold purely so its immortality will let him hunt forever, going so far as to wade through Bonbori's stomach acid to relish the moment of claiming it. To him, allies and strangers alike are simply tools for his pursuit, and he readily enslaves anyone useful with his chains, dismissing the idea of holding both dreams and friends as far too greedy. His signature laugh is "Jararara."
Treasure's renown across the New World and beyond was enough that even Tesoro acknowledged his merits and bankrolled him. As captain he holds full command of the Treasure Pirates and stands as their strongest fighter, blending tremendous physical power with his fruit. He overcame Gismonda, one of CP0's elite agents, traded blows with Luffy of the Worst Generation, and endured submersion in Bonbori's acids without showing pain. His Jara Jara no Mi, a Paramecia fruit, lets him spawn and command chains of many kinds, swinging them as crushing weapons and binding captives in unbreakable bonds.
Hired by Tesoro to recover the Pure Gold, Treasure tracked down Myskina Olga, the sole keeper of its location, and ambushed the Marine convoy guarding her, besting Gismonda below deck before she fled on her steed Elizabeth. He pursued her to the Straw Hat Pirates, and when the chase plunged everyone into the giant fish Bonbori, he captured several crew members and recaptured Olga. Inside the beast he bound Luffy and left him to dissolve, then forced the Straw Hats to clear the trapped temple guarding the Pure Gold. After grabbing his prize at last, he was interrupted by a revived Luffy; their final duel ended with Treasure slammed into Bonbori's stomach wall, the Pure Gold lost in the acid. Stranded, he resigned himself to his fate and was last seen eating on the shore of Alchemi with two of his crew.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
