Rocky Hattari

Of about average height and weight, Rocky has short, unruly blond hair and shields his eyes behind sunglasses. He throws a black leather jacket over a light red shirt and pairs them with blue jeans. The back of his jacket bears a Peace and Love logo, which is repeated on the case he carries his guitar in.

Brash and self-assured, Rocky enjoys rubbing in his wins by blaring his guitar at a defeated rival as an insult. He shows no hesitation in challenging powerful figures such as Luffy and Smoker, yet a softer side surfaces when, beaten by Luffy, he begins picturing the great story he could write. He treats Nico Robin as a rival and bristles when she teases him, since his ego cannot stand being mocked. Toward Luffy he holds a mutual respect, while his forced partner Bon Kurei leaves him indifferent.

Rocky works as a reporter for the Blueberry Times and is a capable musician and guitarist who will challenge pirates to Treasure Battles for the sake of a story. He fights with his guitar and its case like axes and deploys large speakers to disorient enemies with blasts of sound. In One Piece: Treasure Battle he challenges the Straw Hats to a series of games for a shot at treasure, teaming with Bon Kurei in story mode because the contest requires a partner. After Luffy and Vivi beat him just as they beat Crocodile and every other competitor, he resolves to write a dazzling account of the battles he witnessed. He turns up again in the anime on Ruluka, joining the crowd watching the Tarielishin drift out of the Rainbow Mist, and makes further cameos in titles such as Grand Battle! 3 and Ocean's Dream.
