Sasaki

Standing a touch under 3.2 meters, Sasaki is a portly, light-skinned fish-man. Sharp blue eyes slant above marked creases, set near a faintly hooked nose and a fanged mouth whose two long lower canines jut out even when shut. Shaggy yellowish-green hair runs down to his middle back, a golden hoop dangling from either ear. Dark, vane-like tattoos spread over his shoulders, upper arms, chest, and back, their curved shapes evoking wings.

What he wears mixes Japanese tradition with a military, dictator-like flavor. A broad, puffy cap tops his head, ringed by gold studs with a double-cross badge at the front, and a pair of thin golden horns curl upward beneath it, giving him, alongside his fangs, a demonic cast. A seaman-like cloak drapes from his shoulders, colored white over the top with a downturned flame design before shifting to orange. His chest stays exposed below that, while his legs are covered by a flame-patterned, hakama-style garment held up by a buckled gold belt. Brown gloves and double-toothed geta sandals complete the outfit.

Outside of battle Sasaki comes across as relaxed and even-tempered, yet he readily belittles his equals and scoffs at them. People he counts as friends, like the man he believed to be Kyoshiro, get cordial treatment, but disloyalty draws no mercy: anyone who crosses him is made to pay, and he condemned even his own mind-controlled men as traitors he intended to destroy himself. Ambition fuels him; he wants to wrest an All-Star seat from one of its current holders, so he openly disregards their authority. King attributes that hunger to Sasaki's former life as a captain, which left him brimming with faith in his own might.

His Tobiroppo rank is a point of fierce pride, and he credits his group for a large share of the fear the Beasts Pirates command. He delights in his dinosaur transformation, holding that dinosaurs are the strongest beasts ever to exist, though he gladly enlists his crew's numbers against a stubborn foe. Too proud to confess an error, he passes off his blunders as planned moves, and Franky's retreat enraged him into calling the cyborg shameless. Drink runs through his epithet, and he hunted for Yamato while clutching a sake bottle, yet he deems himself above sharing a cup with underlings and would toast only with Kaidou.

Holding Tobiroppo rank, Sasaki bows only to Kaidou and the All-Stars among the Beasts Pirates and personally directs the Armored Division. His earlier career as a captain once gave him full authority over his own men. Fish-man heritage lends him enormous strength and stamina, and at 472,000,000 Berries his bounty stands third among the Tobiroppo, a marker of his threat. Both Armament and Observation Haki are within his grasp, though neither has appeared in combat, since he leans on his Devil Fruit instead.

His power comes from the Triceratops-model Ryu Ryu no Mi, an Ancient Zoan letting him assume a triceratops or hybrid form whenever he likes. The change multiplies his strength enough to shove back a 13-meter robot and armors his hide against heavy shelling, leaving only his softer belly exposed. In dinosaur shape he charges horns-first, while the hybrid form spins his neck frill like a propeller to speed his rushes and even simulate flight. For melee he relies on the Karakuri Rasento, a mechanized blade whose main edge and perpendicular flaps rotate at speed like a drill, capable of carving through enemies and weapons alike.

Born 34 years back along the Grand Line, Sasaki led the Sasaki Pirates before signing on with Kaidou, after which he fixed his goal on taking an All-Star's place. Gathered on Onigashima during the Fire Festival, the Tobiroppo were ordered by Kaidou to track down his son Yamato. As his men searched, Sasaki was ambushed by Denjiro, whom he still trusted as Kyoshiro, and wound up chained to a sacred tree until a stray blast from Big Mom shattered it and set him loose. Vowing payback against Denjiro, he later cornered Yamato while pursuing Momonosuke and Shinobu, then sank into a prolonged fight with Franky inside the General Franky. Their clash ranged across the island until Sasaki, having driven Franky from the wrecked machine with one last charge, took the Franky Radical Beam straight through his triceratops belly and lost.
