Within Onigashima the structure begins to give way. Nami's group, swelled by fighters borrowed from the Kid and Law crews, pauses to enjoy the win over the Emperor, only for the Live Floor to buckle under the strain of the blast and the duels overhead. At the island's edge, Franky stretches an arm out to catch Zoro and reel him back before he tumbles into the sea below.

Lending its might to the fight, Zunesha arrives at Onigashima, yet Momonosuke wavers over pressing on. He admits to Yamato that freeing the country may not have been what Oden wanted if innocents would pay for it.

Down in the basement, Izou plants himself between the CP0 agents and the Straw Hats rather than step aside. The pair, Guernika and Maha, lean on the Six Powers to overwhelm him, and as a Shigan punches through his chest, Izou squeezes his trigger in the same breath, dropping Maha so that both collapse together. Mourning his fallen partner, Guernika then receives an imperial command from the Five Elders to break off the Robin hunt and put down Luffy at once, trailed unknowingly by Drake. Hidden behind Komurasaki's face, Hiyori waits with Orochi until the ceiling caves and pins him, then drives a Seastone nail into his body to seal his serpent power. On her shamisen she performs his cherished melody, then reveals that her own father, Oden, had loved that same tune.

Belonging to the Wano Country Arc, this installment debuts Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Hydra. Atop the Skull Dome, Kaidou registers his fellow Emperor's defeat and slips into mourning, recalling their shared service aboard the Rocks crew, while Luffy seizes the lull to shift into Gear Fourth Snakeman, a form whose speed the Beast cannot track. The adaptation pictures Momonosuke imagining Oden tearing a vital page from his journal, reorders the Seastone-nail scene to follow the falling rubble, and adds Orochi's view of the mask, padding out the CP0 finish and Kaidou's first-meeting flashback.
