Run, Koby! A Desperate Escape Strategy!

Hoping to rescue her imprisoned captain Moria, Perona infiltrates the Blackbeard Pirates' jail on Hachinosu. After stripping the cell keys off the guards, she lets Koby out, and he agrees in return to release the rest of the prisoners, Moria included. Avalo Pizarro, who ranks among the ten captains serving Blackbeard, issues a command to retake the runaways alive rather than slay them. With Koby now beyond the bars, the Cross Guild places a five-star bounty on him totaling 500 million Berries, and a crowd of bounty hunters fans out across the town to track him down.

To lead the hunters away from the other captives, Koby splits off on his own. While fleeing, he thinks back to the conversation he had with Blackbeard soon after being seized. Teach had outlined his intention to negotiate a trade with the World Government, returning Koby in exchange for Hachinosu joining as a recognized member. Kuzan cautioned against pursuing such an arrangement, pointing out that Koby is part of SWORD and therefore no longer reports directly to the Marines, yet Blackbeard remained committed to the idea.

As they chase Koby, the hunters collide with a Marine invasion. They first encounter a trio of golems, each granted Logia-like intangibility because their forms are made of clay. SWORD member Kujaku follows, using her whip to fling whole buildings around. Finally, from a vessel anchored offshore, Garp and Tashigi watch and ready a strike of their own.

The anime contributes new material, among it a sequence in which Perona slips into the prison and steals the cell keys after beating two pirates with her Horo Horo no Mi, plus a depiction of Koby leading the slaves out. It also stretches out the interaction between Perona and Koby, the pursuit, and the clay golems' fight. One difference between the versions concerns Koby's situation when he learns three Marines are assaulting the island. The manga shows him still on the run and being chased, while the anime has him in hiding. The episode introduces the Shima Shima no Mi and Muchi Muchi no Mi, with Koby as the bonus character.
