Nami's Soul Cries Out! Straw Hat Luffy Makes a Comeback!

Pushing past onlookers who think she is courageous and foolish in equal measure, Nami sprints toward the spot where Luffy sits wedged between two buildings. She finally gets within shouting distance and demands to know why he is stranded out there, learning that Rob Lucci flung him into the gap. Nearby, Chopper races to a chimney he first mistakes for a sea anemone and discovers Zoro trapped inside it. With a colossal Aqua Laguna swell bearing down on the island, the crew has only moments to break loose before the water hits.

Nami relays what Iceburg told her, that Robin surrendered herself to spare the crew, and Luffy vows he will never let her die. Forcing the buildings apart with raw muscle, he frees himself while Zoro escapes the chimney using Sanjuroku Pound Ho. Luffy stretches himself and Nami clear of danger as Chopper swallows a Rumble Ball to yank Zoro out, yet the wave still swallows them. Paulie's ropes catch the whole group and reel them to safety alongside the other townspeople. At Enies Lobby, Spandam dines with his sword pet Funkfreed, boasting that Aokiji granted him command of agents and warships. On the Sea Train, Sanji clears a car of enemies and rushes onward.

The installment marks the debut of Funkfreed and the Zou Zou no Mi Devil Fruit. It is also the first episode where Kazue Ikura voices Chopper, filling in during Ikue Otani's maternity leave. The animators expanded a single manga panel into a longer exchange where Zoro throttles Chopper, Luffy laughs, and Nami yanks his face, and Chopper's foaming was censored compared to the printed version. The story draws on chapters 363 through 365.
