As Marines fix Iceburg's building, Luffy catches up with the two trainees and hears of a way the Navy now safely crosses the Calm Belt, namely Dr. Vegapunk's seastone-lined hulls that hide them from the Sea Kings. Eavesdropping by way of a Black Den Den Mushi snail, Nami quietly banks that intel along with word of Vegapunk's method for putting Devil Fruit powers into objects. Before leaving, Koby drops a tantalizing detail about the New World, the far half of the Grand Line where, in time, a new Pirate King is expected to rise.

Luffy and Koby vow to meet again in the New World as rivals chasing their separate dreams of Pirate King and Admiral. After a sprawling party erupts, Robin slips off to a quiet wall, where Aokiji speaks to her from the opposite side. He reveals that Jaguar D. Saul, the friend duty forced him to kill two decades earlier, had asked him to keep her safe, which is why he watched over her all those years. Learning she has at last found friends she can call home, Aokiji is relieved, urges her to live with resolve, and departs, leaving only an icy mark behind.

A flashback to the crew's Calm Belt run leaves out the anime-only Apis. The episode also slips on continuity, having Luffy and Koby first cross paths aboard Alvida's ship rather than where they truly met. The eyecatch pairs Nami with Robin.
