The Straw Hat's Hard Battles! A Pirate Soul Risking It All for the Flag!

Thrown off and distracted over the stolen Jolly Roger, Luffy stumbles early against Brindo until the Phoenix Pirates step in and pin the attacker. Usopp makes a little headway on Arbell, only for a furious Salchow to keep derailing his efforts. Franky at last brings down Hockera, but the win burns through the last of his cola, and the ice pucks Hockera planted inside the sub freeze him and Nami solid.

Robin convinces Lil to lead her toward Lovely Land, the floating base where Zoro is still wandering with no sense of where he is. The episode weaves the separate scuffles together while routing the crew, by different paths, toward the Accino stronghold. Franky's hard-fought victory leaves him drained of fuel and encased in ice when the puck trap aboard the Shark sub springs.

This filler chapter is where Franky's own eyecatcher first appears. Inside Lovely Land, the flag room tucks away several visual gags. One is a seahorse modeled on Tatsu, that creature seen back during the Ocean's Dream Arc; nearby hang a Jolly Roger loosely shaped like Donquixote Doflamingo and a grinning skull whose missing teeth match the gap in Marshall D. Teach's smile. New techniques include Salchow's Jump and Kick and the shared Love Throw.
