Unexpected Relanding! Luffy, to Marineford!

Reconstruction of Marine Headquarters is underway when officers gather to discuss Luffy. A Marine warship approaches but bypasses the bay, opening fire and circling the island while the Marines shoot back, only to find Jinbe, Luffy, and Rayleigh aboard. Having completed a full loop around Marineford, the three step onto the grounds. Jinbe and Rayleigh keep the Marines occupied as Luffy dashes to the Ox Bell and tolls it sixteen times. He then lets a bouquet fall into the deepest fissure split into the earth, holds the straw hat against his heart, and shuts his eyes in tribute. Reporters and onlookers snap pictures of the scene before the trio slips away from the island.

At a hidden location, Fleet Admiral Sengoku tells his superior, the World Government's Kong, that he intends to step down and puts forward Aokiji as his successor. Koby awakens in a hospital and discovers he has gained Observation Haki, resolving privately to grow strong enough to match Luffy. Smoker, eager to pursue Luffy into the New World, requests a transfer to G-5 from Aokiji. Across the seas, Hawkins faces a challenge from the pirate Brownbeard, while Eustass Kid executes another crew for showing weakness and wanting to retreat to Paradise. The newspapers carry Luffy's act to Water 7, Sabaody, Arabasta, and Foosha Village, and the Five Elders debate filling the vacant Warlord seats while noting that bearers of the will of D are stirring everywhere at once.

The anime depicts Luffy's deeds at Marineford directly, whereas the manga only described them. When Aokiji is named the prospective Fleet Admiral he is shown sneezing, and upon his return a Marine apologizes for letting Luffy get away. Bege and Hawkins are seen reading about the incident. Where the manga showed Kid's victims pierced by swords and screws, the anime depicts only the screws. This is the final episode in which Sengoku is voiced by his original English dub actor, who later succumbed to cancer.
