The Battle Begins! Show the Training Results!

Guards drag Luffy toward the man posing as him at the Sabaody Archipelago. With the pirate crowd packed into Grove 46, the Marines descend and a clash erupts across the two factions. When the genuine captain is recognized, the entire gathering reels in disbelief. Luffy single-handedly wrecks one Pacifista, then encounters Zoro and Sanji, who jointly smash a second cyborg. The trio sets off for Grove 42 to rejoin their crewmates, and on the way out Luffy spots Rayleigh and voices his gratitude for the mentorship he received.

At Grove 17, Rayleigh briefs Nami on New World weather while the rest of the crew waits anxiously aboard the Thousand Sunny, eager to learn how far their captain has grown over two years. Chopper offers to fetch Luffy should any trouble arise. Brook escapes the Sabaody Dome with the Rosy Life Riders as his fans block the Marines. In Grove 46, the impostor captain Demaro Black is interrupted mid-boast when soldiers arrive to arrest the whole crowd. Caribou ignores an order to use a captured scout as a shield and instead kills him, exposing his Logia ability as the brawl ignites. Two Pacifistas and Sentomaru appear, and Sentomaru bludgeons the boasting fake, then has PX-5 reveal him as a low-bounty nobody named Demaro Black. PX-5 then targets the real Luffy, whose disguise tears away during the dodge. Drawing on Haki and Gear Second, Luffy obliterates PX-5 and flees, meeting Zoro and Sanji as they down PX-7 in tandem.

The adaptation inserts several beats absent from the manga, including Chopper volunteering for the pickup, an exchange of compliments between Zoro and Sanji, and Caribou tormenting his captive before the kill. Here Caribou's Devil Fruit debuts against a soldier rather than against the fake Sanji. Combat staging differs too: Sentomaru strikes one-handed instead of with both hands, PX-5 fires three mouth beams rather than a single palm laser, and PX-7 also uses a mouth laser against Zoro and Sanji. Unlike the source material, Rayleigh sheds no tears as Luffy shouts his vow. The closing stretch plays out to We Go, carrying from the crowd's realization through Luffy's promise to Rayleigh that he will claim the title of Pirate King.
