Sentomaru is the axe-wielding former captain of the Marine Science Unit and Dr. Vegapunk's bodyguard, a sumo-styled fighter who commands the Pacifista. His lifelong debt to the scientist eventually turns him against the World Government during the Egghead Incident.
Towering and heavily built, Sentomaru carries the proportions of a sumo wrestler, his pale skin marked by a long scar that runs from his left eye down toward the side of his mouth, a wound he took from wild bears. His clothing evokes the ring rather than the battlefield: an apron-like brown garment bearing a kanji for heaven, wrapped in the thick red and white rope that yokozunas traditionally wear. Bandages once covered his right fist and elbows, the kanji for battle is inked on his left shoulder, and a two-edged axe nearly his own height accompanies him everywhere.
The two-year gap left him bulkier still, now draping a Marine coat across his shoulders after his formal induction and dropping the arm bandages. As a boy he resembled his grown self closely, though without the facial scar, the chest emblem, or the apron, and with childish blush marks on his cheeks.
Boasting that his guard is the tightest in the world, Sentomaru extends the same claim to his lips and insists he answers no questions. The boast rarely holds, since he happily volunteers details about himself, always framing the disclosure as something given freely rather than asked for. Supremely sure of his skill, he once moved against the entire Straw Hat crew with only a single Pacifista at his back, and he keeps his composure even when startled, as when Chopper reared up in monster form or when Luffy shattered a Pacifista after the timeskip.
His loyalty to the Marines is firm, and although he holds no real grudge against pirates, he treats their capture as a duty, taking pride after the timeskip in arresting them under an official badge. Sharp-eyed, he instantly recognized Armament Haki behind Luffy's strike. Above that loyalty, though, sits his personal obligation to Vegapunk, which ultimately drove him to shield the scientist from CP0 and the World Government. He respects opponents he deems worthy and dismisses those who fall short, branding the impostor Demalo Black filth and calling the recruits who joined the fake crew fools for being deceived.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...
Born on the Grand Line at Mt. Kintoki, Sentomaru grew up a ravenous, troublesome delinquent until his town banished him to the mountain. There, surviving alone and beating back the bears that plagued his village with sumo technique, he was found starving by Vegapunk, who was impressed enough to hire him as a bodyguard; Borsalino later trained the boy and amused him with displays of his Devil Fruit. Years on, Sentomaru joined the Marines and rose to lead their Science Unit, a post that lets him command Pacifista without a control chip. He also uses Armament Haki at an advanced level, able to wound even Devil Fruit users without touching them through his Ashigara Dokkoi palm strike, and carries Observation Haki besides.
On the Sabaody Archipelago he confronted Luffy alongside PX-1 and Kizaru, overpowering the rookie before Kuma scattered the crew. He later brought an army of Pacifista to the Summit War at Marineford and stood down once Shanks arrived. Two years afterward, now a sworn Marine, he flattened the impostor Demalo Black and was stunned to watch the real Luffy destroy a Pacifista with one Haki-charged blow.
During the Egghead Incident his bond with Vegapunk forced a final reckoning. Ordered to place several Seraphim under his command, he turned them against CP0 and was run through by an awakened Lucci, yet clung to consciousness and later activated fifty Mark III Pacifista to protect the scientist. He faced his old mentor Kizaru in a doomed duel, was blasted down, and still found the strength to catch a falling Bonney before collapsing. After Joy Boy's Haki swept the island, a weeping Sentomaru rowed away from Egghead alone.
Sentomaru is male. He is the axe-wielding former captain of the Marine Science Unit and Dr. Vegapunk's bodyguard.
No, Sentomaru is alive. After Joy Boy's Haki swept Egghead Island during the Egghead Incident, a weeping Sentomaru rowed away from the island alone, badly hurt but still living.
Sentomaru is a Marine officer who is loyal to the organization, but he is not straightforwardly evil. His personal debt to Dr. Vegapunk ultimately led him to defy the World Government and CP0 to protect the scientist during the Egghead Incident.
During the Egghead Incident, Sentomaru turned Seraphim under his command against CP0 and the World Government to shield Vegapunk, making him a traitor to the government's cause even though he remained devoted to the man who once saved his life.
Sentomaru is not related to Kizaru by blood. Borsalino, known as Kizaru, trained Sentomaru as a boy and served as his mentor, though the two later faced off in a doomed duel during the Egghead Incident.
