On the Verge of Annihilation - A Deadly Monster Comes Flying In

Luffy announces his intent to seize Caesar, with Law taking on Monet and Chopper hunting for an antidote. As Luffy's group searches for a way into the lab, Tashigi and Smoker attack him, Smoker briefly gaining the upper hand until Luffy switches to Gear Second and tells him to save their fight for when he has his own body back. Inside, the children begin to stir until Usopp lulls them to sleep once more.

Pieces of Smiley start falling onto the stolen warship. Unable to find a door, Franky carves an opening with his Radical Beam. The Marines who touch the fallen slime find it leaks poison gas, and when one tries to burn a piece, it detonates and destroys the ship. On the burning side, Zoro, Sanji, Brook, and the samurai watch Smiley fling fragments of itself across the lake. Caesar appears in the lab and explains that Smiley, his own creation, is weak against water. As he finishes his boast, Luffy leaps up and grabs hold of him.

Luffy declares he will capture Caesar, with Law handling Monet and Chopper seeking an antidote. Luffy overpowers Smoker using Gear Second and defers their duel. Usopp sedates the waking children again. Franky breaches the lab with his Radical Beam, and falling Smiley fragments destroy the stolen warship. Caesar emerges, reveals Smiley's weakness to water, and Luffy seizes him.

The episode adapts chapter 670. The anime adds Law and Chopper teleporting into the lab, Franky and Robin fighting centaurs, Usopp's additional Sleep Star, and Caesar completing his speech before Luffy grabs him. Where the manga left Franky's breaching attack unspecified, the anime has him use Radical Beam and a variation of Weapons Left. Luffy's clash with Smoker and Tashigi and Smiley's appearance are both extended.
