Kaidou Returns - An Imminent Threat to the Worst Generation!

Poring over the newspaper, Pedro learns the Blackbeard Pirates have struck the Revolutionary Army's headquarters, and on those same pages Luffy at last lays eyes on the face belonging to his father, Dragon. Anxious over Sabo's safety, Luffy is calmed by Pedro, who reasons the revolutionaries most likely pulled through and are tucked away somewhere safe.

That lapse in attention proves costly. Having left the burner lit, Luffy sets off a gas blast in the galley that wrecks the meal he was making and destroys their entire seven-day store of provisions, so the team is left with nothing to eat. Across the distant sea, an incensed Kaidou seethes over Doflamingo's capture and swears to crush the Worst Generation, having already taken one of its members, Eustass Kid, prisoner.

The jarring headlines land on the Thousand Sunny as the rescue crew sails onward toward Big Mom's domain, binding Luffy's parentage to the larger conflict. The kitchen blast strips them of their rations, and the scene then shifts to Kaidou, mourning the loss of his SMILEs and vowing to wipe out the rising rookies, with Kid already shackled in his grasp.

Material exclusive to the anime includes Luffy clumsily chopping the ingredients, Chopper tending Pekoms' wounds just before Pedro reveals the Revolutionary Army news, and the talk between Carrot and Bariete before she departed Zou. The adaptation also draws out the storm sequence, the exchange between Wanda and Bariete over the bribe, and Kaidou's grief at losing his SMILEs. A continuity error has Sabo smiling in one newspaper photo yet looking serious in another shot. This installment marks the end of the Zou Arc.
