Oden bids farewell to Toki and his children in Wano as the Roger Pirates close in on their final goal. Reaching the last island at the end of the Grand Line, Roger gives it the name Laugh Tale and claims a crown no pirate had ever worn before him.
Sailing with the Roger Pirates eventually returns Oden to his homeland, drawn there by a Road Poneglyph. Years of unbroken voyaging take their toll, and when Toki collapses from sheer exhaustion, Oden is forced to part with his wife and their youngsters, while Inuarashi and Nekomamushi likewise opt to remain. He himself is ready to stay, but Toki presses him to keep sailing, and on his way out he senses that something within Wano has changed.
The crew arrives at Zou, home to the final Road Poneglyph, where its duke Hitsugisukan greets them warmly. A young Pedro begs to come along, but Roger declines on account of his age while assuring him his moment will arrive. Now holding every clue needed for the last island, the pirates are stalled when Buggy is struck by a raging fever; he and Shanks must stay put, and before departing Roger passes Shanks his signature straw hat. The crew goes on to conquer the entire Grand Line. On the island that had sat untouched for ages, Roger offers thanks to a figure named Joy Boy who had left the treasure for him, and he christens the place Laugh Tale, becoming the first ever to wear the crown of Pirate King.
