God Guardians

Shortened to GG and first called the White Berets, this body handled policing across Skypiea beneath their captain McKinley, having once belonged to God's Army. During their White Beret years they sported a signature outfit of pale-purple shirts, wide trousers dotted with cloud-shaped white markings, and berets lettered WB, getting around on Jet Skis while carrying twin-bladed knives and bows that loosed Milky Arrows. Once the timeskip passed, the unit rebranded as the God Guardians and swapped in GG lettering on their shirts and berets, leaving the rest of the look untouched.

Among every guardian faction in Skypiea, this one ranks as the softest, kindest, and most forgiving. Their conduct can turn odd, since they occasionally drop and crawl for no clear cause and pair the customary Skypiean hello of Heso with a peculiar gesture of the hands.

Answering straight to the Skypiea's Priests, the unit holds none of the priests' superhuman prowess from the Upper Yard. Their work centers on running down offenders and stamping them with a degree that ranks how serious their wrongdoing is, giving the sky island a uniform ladder of punishment. Their trademark Milky Arrows spin loops of cloud through the air, which the Berets ride to disorient and trap whoever they are chasing.

While Enel held power the group could pronounce a verdict called Heaven's Judgment under Skypiean law. Offenses ran the gamut, from slipping into Skypiea illegally, punished by handing over ten times the entry fee, up through wrecking or lifting sky island property, blocking a public servant, roughing up a White Beret, and at the top, dodging a Priest's judgment, which counted as declaring war outright on the god Enel. In the anime the roster of crimes grew longer, and theft dropped to an eighth-degree offense there.

McKinley led the outfit from start to finish. All of its members had first served in the Divine Squad under Gan Fall before seeming to break away and swear themselves to Enel. Once the Straw Hats trespassed into Skypiea and would not settle the levied fine, the Berets moved to seize them, only for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji to beat them down, prompting McKinley's warning that God and his priests would take over.

Convinced that shielding the citizens meant stopping anyone from stirring God's rage, the group stayed put on the island. Learning at last that Enel meant to obliterate every part of Skypiea, they broke ranks with him and steered the residents of Angel Island to safety. Two years afterward the force took on the God Guardians name.
