Ironfist

Overview

Ironfist refers to the metal bolts Fullbody fastens over his knuckles to turn ordinary punches into far heavier blows. He trains in a fighting method close to boxing, so the reinforced fists suit his style. At the start of the series he sported only a single duster on his right hand, the one named Ironfist in the databooks. After the timeskip he took to wearing one on each hand, which earned him the upgraded nickname Double Ironfist, though whether the second piece carries its own name has never been stated.

Function

The dusters work as simple striking weapons, adding lethal force to Fullbody's punches without any mechanism or trick. With them he flattened the bounty hunters Johnny and Yosaku in a single exchange and looked set to crush the Tulip Pirates before a hostage forced him to stop. Against a genuinely powerful opponent like Sanji, however, the gear was not enough to save him from a humiliating beating at the Baratie. Once he joined Hina's unit and became Double Ironfist, he claimed to have grown stronger and could take an enemy ship alongside Jango with relative ease.

Notable Users

Fullbody alone carries the Ironfist gear throughout his appearances. He began as a Marine Headquarters lieutenant who ambushed the battered Krieg Pirates, captured Gin, and clashed with the Straw Hats around the Baratie. A demotion to seaman recruit followed his role in pardoning Jango, after which the two became inseparable followers of Hina. Wearing the paired dusters, he later tried and failed to stop the Straw Hats from fleeing Arabasta and stood among the Marines at the Summit War of Marineford, eventually climbing back to lieutenant commander.
