Overview

The Vegaforce-01 was a gigantic mecha created by Dr. Vegapunk and operated mainly through his Lilith satellite. Its design drew on the legendary Iron Giant, a robot built nine centuries earlier. So large that it could scoop up the Thousand Sunny in its palms, it easily dwarfed even the General Franky.

Function

The machine paired a hugely broad upper torso with a narrow waist and comparatively thin limbs of metal bar. A star marked its left breast and the name Vega Force 1 sat on the right, with the number twelve on one shoulder and a centurion-style helmet and visor over a pair of human-like eyes. Its darker lower section held the cockpit, reached through a front window that swung open like a drawbridge so Vegapunk could step out and speak with people while it kept running. The mecha hit with explosive force, downing the Mecha-Shark in a single punch, lifted ships, sped underwater, and flew using combined jet propulsion and anti-gravity, though flight only worked under the atmospheric conditions supplied by Egghead's air conditioning system.

Notable Users

Vegapunk's Lilith satellite did most of the piloting. When the Mecha-Shark menaced the Straw Hats near Egghead, she dove the Vegaforce-01 underwater, destroyed the shark, and raised the Sunny back above the surface before introducing herself as Dr. Vegapunk to general bewilderment. She later flew the crew up to the Labophase carrying their ship. During the escape attempt from Egghead, the mecha was caught in the clash between Luffy and Kizaru, taking heavy damage when Luffy was hurled through it and then exploding completely.
