Appearance

Enormous and clad in metal, this mechanical shark has jaws wide enough to swallow a whole ship in a single bite. Round eyes sit above a tapered snout lined with sharp, jagged teeth, and like a living shark its belly is paler than its darker upper half. Hinges fasten its fins to its frame, each marked with the number 03. The name VEGAPUNK is stamped along its side, and a star-shaped emblem decorates its tail.

Personality

Vegapunk intended the machine to patrol, send reports, and shoot at pirate ships, but its raw hunger to devour those ships won out over that design. The result is a savage, ravenous predator. It had already eaten Jewelry Bonney's vessel and set its sights on the Thousand Sunny, baring a grin with its tongue lolling out moments before it meant to feed.

Abilities

Its sheer scale lets the Mecha-Shark gulp entire pirate ships between its huge jaws and teeth. Underwater radar helps it lock onto targets, and a cannon set inside its mouth launches homing torpedoes and cannonballs. Even with all of that, it was outmatched by one of Vegapunk's larger robots, which dropped it with a single punch. Vegapunk had reworked the shark in an attempt to override its base instincts, a project that never succeeded. Sometime before the Straw Hats neared Egghead, it ate Bonney's ship, though she slipped free after becoming lodged in a warm eddy. As the crew battled Egghead's strange waters, the Mecha-Shark glided beneath them to spring an ambush, but they dodged. It chased them, fired missiles that capsized the Thousand Sunny, then loosed cannonballs at Jinbe, Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney, who had been split from the others. The shots missed, and as it turned back to the ship Lilith arrived in Vegaforce-01 and punched it aside before it could eat the pirates.
