Chapter 1092

Several buildings across the capital lie in ruins after Kuma lets loose an Ursus Shock. When Sakazuki steps forward to face him, a mob of World Nobles closes in, blaming their sudden hunger on the destruction and screaming for the weapon to be put to death. The Fleet Admiral concludes that a Kuma slipping beyond the Government's command can no longer be permitted to live, though what eludes him personally is the motive of a man emptied of any sense of self. He carves part of that face open with Meigo, after which a magma burst tears one of his legs away, yet Kuma still teleports clear of the scene.

Watching him go, Sakazuki's mind returns to two years prior, to the day he seized Bonney and told her that her father had offered himself up willingly for the weaponization, words she could not bring herself to believe. The Nobles howl at him for the escape while he keeps turning over one question in his head: where is the fleeing tyrant bound?

Far away at Egghead, it is the Pacifista that bring down the Sea Beast Weapons, clearing the way for a Marine landing. Battling as Gear 4 Snakeman, Luffy rains blows on Kizaru, who blocks them yet grants that this pirate has grown into a real threat since Kaidou's defeat. The admiral asks why Luffy guards Vegapunk, only to have the question flung back at him; he confesses no private desire to slay a man he has long known, but claims the choice is not his. With a kick of blinding speed, he flings Luffy straight through Vegaforce-01, destroying it and pinning the captain against the barrier of the Frontier Dome.

As the broken robot drops the Thousand Sunny, Franky, Bonney, and Lilith scramble from the wreck. Kizaru intercepts the pair, remarks on how Bonney has grown, and asks why she shields a scientist she ought to loathe. She grabs a wire, triggers Toshi Tsuki, and declares her aim has shifted, but the admiral slips past and, asking her not to force his hand, kicks her toward the same barrier. A charging Radical Beam from Franky finds nothing. Warned by Franky, Usopp braces just as the satellites crack the Frontier Dome's code, and Kizaru appears before Vegapunk to announce the plan undone. Before any strike lands, Luffy resurfaces in Gear 5 and seizes the admiral in a giant Gomu Gomu no Gigant hand.

Belonging to the Egghead Arc, the installment brings famine upon Mary Geoise and revisits Sakazuki's capture of Bonney following the Summit War of Marineford. Kuma flees the Holy Land having lost one leg along with a portion of his face. The satellites Atlas, Edison, and Vegapunk break through York's security during the upheaval. At the close, the rhythm of Luffy's heartbeat travels far below to where the Fabiriophase lies; in answer to the Drums of Liberation, the eyes of the Iron Giant, also called Emet, suddenly switch on. The cover honors a reader request depicting Jinbe squished by giant cuddly remoras.
