Chapter 215: Last Waltz

Igaram bolts awake from a nightmare in which Vivi declares herself a pirate, then barges into her chamber only to find her being fitted for a dress by Terracotta and another servant, earning a beating for the intrusion. Outside he discovers Cobra was thrashed too. Vivi worries her gown is too tight, but Terracotta says she looks exactly as a princess should and notes the square is already filling, even though the speech, postponed two years past her fourteenth-birthday coming-of-age date, is not until ten. Cobra has arranged for the entire nation to hear her.

At the harbor the crew battles eight Marine ships at once, the Going Merry pierced by iron spears as Chopper struggles to patch the hull. Jango and Fullbody boast of their formation before a devastating blow rocks the ship, which Luffy mistakenly credits to Usopp. Mr. 2's men then warn that Black Cage Hina's fleet is closing in.

Bon Kurei frantically urges the crew to flee south through the gap, but Luffy refuses, explaining they made a promise to reach the eastern port to pick up a friend. Astonished anyone would risk so much for a single person, Bon Kurei has a change of heart and turns his own ship into a decoy. Using his copying ability to mimic Luffy while his crew impersonates the others, he lures Hina away from the real Going Merry. Cobra, meanwhile, enters Vivi's room and is struck by how much she resembles her late mother as she braces to share important news.

Vivi was originally meant to give her coming-of-age ceremony at fourteen. The Going Merry suffers heavy hull damage from Hina's Devil Fruit, and Mr. 2 bravely fights the Marines to buy the crew an escape, leaving them three minutes to reach Alubarna's eastern port. The crew vows never to forget his sacrifice. This chapter was later redrawn by Naoshi Komi for the one-shot Vivi's Adventure.
