When the bell rings, Mozu and Kiwi guess that Zambai and the rest have come, fearing they may have hauled the captured pirates along. Usopp sneers that his former companions would never bother saving him. As the chime keeps sounding, the sisters go to open up while Franky tells Usopp to head back to his crew now that the trouble is settled, which only reignites their feud over Usopp's refusal to leave the Merry. The bickering ends when Mozu is sent hurtling over and Kiwi drops, both struck down by Kalifa. Furious, Franky charges forward only for Blueno to stop him, and he hoists the man overhead before a kick sends him sprawling. To his disbelief, these four attackers are the same Galley-La craftsmen introduced to him only a day earlier.

Rob Lucci tells the group that the quartet are spies serving the government and that their whole Water 7 existence was a lie. They even know his real name, yet he holds his composure and asks how Iceburg fares. Lucci replies that Iceburg is dead and that they have come for the Pluton design. Crushed by the news, Franky thinks back to a young Iceburg giving him the name he now carries, then swings at Lucci, who smashes him clean through a wall into a second room.

Unaware the hidden room existed, the agents comb through it and uncover plates engraved with three names: Tom, alongside Iceburg and Cutty Flam. Franky orders them out, telling them this is where he was raised and where the finest shipwright in the world once worked. Hanging on the wall, a group photograph showing everyone who belonged to Tom's Workers comes into view.

The chapter falls within the Water 7 Arc. Its color spread, titled There's An Open Road, marks the Year of the Rooster with the Straw Hats racing atop giant roosters before a sunrise, Zoro left to ride a hatchling. That image nods to the Hatsuyume belief about fortunate new-year dreams. The photograph also places Kokoro and Yokozuna within the ranks of Tom's old crew.
