Luffy subdues the Cerberus while the mansion's masters scheme over the crew's bounties. Indoors, the furnishings themselves awaken and assault Usopp's group, who flee through a hidden passage into a chamber covered with old photographs of Cindry.
Bounding wildly around the group, the Cerberus draws Zoro's suspicion, but Luffy insists on taming it and extends a hand even as it sinks its teeth into his head. He soothes the beast, then drops it with a single punch and rides the dazed creature into the woods, hollering for Nami. Robin feels sorry for it while Sanji doubts it is even alive. Luffy soon notices an old-faced tree drinking alongside a unicorn, and Franky grabs both, asking the tree to enlist. At the manor, Absalom admits to Hogback that he wants Nami for a wife, but Perona counts six bounties among the intruders, Luffy's reaching 300,000,000 Berries, which spurs Hogback to capture them all.
Inside, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper bicker over the invisible man and the surgeon's honesty, returning to find both Hogback and Cindry vanished. Hildon calls down from the chandelier that the pair has gone to bed and leads the distrustful trio toward their rooms. A portrait abruptly speaks, a painted zombie springs out and drags Chopper into its canvas, and a mounted pig head calling itself Buhichuck, the room's zombie boss, flings a sword. A bear rug heaves upward with Nami and Usopp clinging to it as the decorations come alive. Usopp realizes the creatures dread fire and pelts them with candles. Boxed in at the fireplace, the three drop through its spinning rear panel into a concealed corridor toward the laboratory, ending up in a room hung with portraits of a smiling, unstitched Cindry.
The Surprise Zombies, the animate objects haunting the manor, are introduced and shown to fear fire. Hogback, Perona, and Absalom openly conspire to seize the bounty-carrying pirates, and the discovery of photographs of a living Cindry foreshadows the truth behind her stitched state. On the cover, a stranger crackling with what looks like divine fury appears atop the Space Pirates' vessel.
