Chapter 571

Luffy and Garp trade blows atop the crumbling bridge, the old vice admiral declaring he now counts both grandsons as foes for choosing piracy. As the two wind up enormous punches, memories of the boys he raised freeze Garp's arm, and Luffy slips past to land a Gear Second strike that sends him plunging to the ground below, stunning the watching officers. Luffy reaches the scaffold and readies Hancock's key to unlock Ace, but Sengoku transforms into a colossal golden Buddha and resolves to kill both brothers at once. Kizaru fires a laser that shatters the key before it can turn.

One of the supposedly unconscious executioners then stirs and reveals himself as Mr. 3 in disguise. Luffy inflates into a Gigantic Rubber Balloon while Mr. 3 raises a Candle Wall, together blunting Sengoku's massive fist, though the stand splits apart and collapses. As the three criminals fall, the Marines unleash a wall of cannon fire. Mr. 3 explains he climbed up to avenge his fallen comrade Bon Kurei, then molds a wax key and hands it over so Luffy can finally release Ace. As the shells close in, Ace turns to intangible flame to shield Luffy and Mr. 3.

Garp deliberately lets Luffy beat him. Sengoku's Devil Fruit power, the Buddha form, is revealed at last, though the fruit's name is not stated. With Mr. 3 disguised as an executioner, Ace is freed from his Seastone restraints.

Mr. 3's motive ties back to Bon Kurei's earlier sacrifice at Impel Down. The cover, part of the Straw Hats and Animals series, shows Nami having her hair styled by a giant crab. The chapter runs seventeen pages.
