Titled "Seconds of Courage," the chapter hands the wounded Luffy and Jinbe to Law, lets Blackbeard taunt the Marine brass, and builds to Koby's outburst against the slaughter, which Shanks arrives to honor by ending the war.
Branding Law an accomplice, the Marines turn their guns on his submarine while fresh troops pour up from hidden underground passages. Law presses Buggy to load the unconscious Luffy and Jinbe aboard. Blackbeard amuses himself by rattling the fortress and the surrounding sea into enormous waves, ignoring Burgess's warning about losing their footing, and he sneers at Garp and Sengoku that he means to finish them the way he finished Whitebeard. On distant Sabaody, an evacuation order sends crowds fleeing to the archipelago's northern side to escape the incoming tsunamis.
Amid the carnage Koby weeps, telling Helmeppo that a voice in his head has gone silent, a budding sense like Observation Haki. Sickened that the Marines keep killing after Ace's execution is done, and that Doberman refuses to let the wounded be treated, Koby screams for everyone to stop, pointing out the soldiers have families and lives worth more than this pointless bloodshed. Akainu dismisses him as a waste and moves to kill the boy. In that instant Shanks appears, catching the magma fist on his blade, and tells Koby that his brief flash of courage has bent the fate of the world. Beckman levels his gun at Kizaru to keep him still, and Shanks lifts the fallen straw hat, declaring he has come to close out the war.

Luffy and Jinbe are now in Law's care, slipping away to parts unknown. Koby's new perception mirrors Mantra, and his protest temporarily halts the fighting, echoing his earlier fearlessness against Alvida at Goat Island. The Red Hair Pirates reach Marineford, and Shanks shares a quiet reunion with the hat he once gave Luffy. The cover shows Karoo carving a wooden likeness of Vivi as she poses.
