Manga ChapterCh. 591

Its title poses a pointed question, asking whether Luffy is sure of his choice. The chapter brings Rayleigh ashore on Amazon Lily carrying a plan for Luffy, while Usopp and Chopper, stranded on far-flung islands, scramble to find their way back to their captain.

Summary

The Heart Pirates watch a stranger cut down a Sea King and swim toward their stretch of coast, and they are floored to recognize Rayleigh, who already knows the captain is on this island. As Luffy and Jinbe join him, Rayleigh notes that Law has prescribed two more weeks of rest and that his crew has already pulled out. Hancock turns up with her sisters and Nyon bearing food, and it comes to light that Nyon and the Gorgon Sisters go back years with both Rayleigh and Shakky. Handing over a letter from Shakky, Rayleigh explains he pinpointed the captain's whereabouts through Kuma's parting words and Shakky's hunch. When Luffy says he means to return to Sabaody, Rayleigh warns the whole ordeal could merely happen again, and lays out a different idea.

Key Events

On Greenstone in the Boin Archipelago, a now-bloated Usopp keeps hurling himself at a huge horned beetle even as Heracles warns that the beasts only grow nastier the farther one strays from the island's heart. The whole landmass proves to be an enormous flesh-eating plant, the Stomach Baron, and Heracles snatches Usopp from its jaws. Usopp admits a newspaper told him of Ace's death and that he is desperate to reach the captain, or else he has no right to call himself a crewmate. Over in the Torino Kingdom, Chopper, having ended a quarrel between the locals and the birds rooted in a misunderstanding about stolen eggs, readies to depart on the back of one bird. He grabs a paper from a passing News Coo, spots something about the captain, and panics.

Notes

Rayleigh becomes the first individual ever depicted swimming his way clear across the Calm Belt. His crewmates of the moment leave Amazon Lily, and Luffy recovers his straw hat. The long friendship linking Nyon, the Gorgon Sisters, Rayleigh, and Shakky comes to light, as does the content of Kuma's message. Rayleigh resolves to aid Luffy with a scheme, both Usopp and Chopper renew their wish to rejoin him, and Chopper settles the feud between the islanders and the giant birds. The cover shows Rayleigh and Crocus unwinding in a hot pool with Laboon behind them.
