Chapter 605

Luffy's plan to tame the kraken so it can tow the ship leaves the crew dumbfounded, Usopp and Chopper stressing the beast's mythical scale while Robin calmly sketches it and Franky calls it tasty. Coribou's ship suddenly resurfaces, only for a single tentacle to burst its bubble and crush it, scattering the Caribou Pirates into the deep and devastating Caribou. The kraken then turns on the Sunny. Because any attack risks popping their own bubble, Caribou offers a solution, and Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are sealed in Barefoot Coating diving suits with a lifeline rope so they can fight freely away from the ship.

Luffy tells Zoro and Sanji to buy him time for a single decisive strike. Franky fends off tentacles with new shoulder rockets, Chopper blocks one with a much larger Guard Point, and Robin's Mil Fleurs: Gigantesco Mano shoves the ship clear of a mountain. Sanji bursts from his own bubble with Blue Walk speed and lands a burning Diable Jambe: Bien Cuit: Grill Shot, while Zoro slices a tentacle into six with Santoryu Ogi: Rokudo no Tsuji. Luffy then hardens a Gear 3 fist with Armament Haki and unleashes Gomu Gomu no Elephant Gun, sending the kraken flying as a clothed shark escapes its mouth. The Downward Plume immediately sucks the Monster Trio and the unconscious kraken away, and the Sunny is dragged in after them, separating the three fighters from the rest.

This is the second time these same three members dive outside the ship, the first being the Jaya Arc. Sanji manages, for once, not to bleed at the sight of a coated Nami. Flutter Kick Coating is introduced, Franky reveals a rocket launcher, and Chopper's enlarged Guard Point debuts, though Oda mistakenly drew him eating a Rumble Ball for it. Robin's Gigantesco Mano premieres, and Luffy uses a Gear 3 attack without the "Gigant" prefix or reverting to chibi form. The remaining crew sinks to 7,000 meters, 3,000 from Fish-Man Island, ending up in the lightless region called the Underworld of the Sea.
