Titled "In My Way," this chapter has Luffy haul the wounded Law clear of Trebol's blast before passing him to Robin's group below. As the shrinking Birdcage looms, Luffy and Doflamingo trade blows on the palace roof, and a final taunt pushes the Straw Hat into a brand new gear.
Robin, Kyros, Rebecca, Leo, Mansherry, and Kabu watch the rooftop in horror as Trebol detonates beneath Luffy and Doflamingo. Both fighters survive, and Luffy bursts free clutching an unconscious Law along with the severed arm. He drops Law toward Robin, who cushions the fall with her arms technique and recoils at the sight of the missing limb. Doflamingo warns that meddling while Law still breathes was a blunder, but Luffy intercepts the string assault and kicks the Warlord aside. Cavendish deflects the stray threads at the last instant.
Luffy hands his friends over to Cavendish, who agrees only because he assumes the Straw Hat admires him. The dwarves move to reattach and heal Law's arm, while Rebecca insists they obey Luffy and descend first. Bartolomeo, still stunned by Zoro's defeat of Pica, is told to raise a staircase with his barrier ability. On the rooftop the two combatants resume their exchange, both badly hurt. Doflamingo recalls tracking Luffy ever since the youth toppled Crocodile and outlasted the Marineford war, then boots him through the palace wall.

Recovering on the Flower Field, Law refuses to flee, declaring that thirteen years of his life were spent hunting Doflamingo and that the outcome now rests with Luffy. Cavendish chooses to guard him while the others escape on Bartolomeo's stairs. Doflamingo reminds Luffy that the weakest citizens will perish within half an hour as the cage tightens, painting the invasion as the cause of Dressrosa's ruin. Luffy rejects the lie, insisting the peace was a sham, and vows that no friend of his will die. Enraged, he triggers Gear 4 for the first time. The cover continues Jinbe's solo story, with Wadatsumi asking to travel alongside him.
