Chapter 842

Inside the Seducing Woods, Cracker keeps conjuring Biscuit Soldiers and threatens to inform Big Mom that Kingbaum has turned traitor. The tree homie pleads that nobody can resist Nami while she holds the Vivre Card, yet Cracker brushes the excuse aside. His real frustration is that Nami's rainfall keeps softening the biscuits into something Luffy can chew through. Nami scolds the commander for whining about a fight between pirates and reminds him that the man across from him is the future Pirate King, whose appetite has no floor. An exhausted Luffy disputes that claim even as he forces down soldier after soldier, set on reaching Sanji.

Over in Sweet City, residents react in alarm to figures darting through their mirrors. A woman smears lipstick across her cheek when Chopper and Carrot streak past in her reflection. Within the Mirro-World, Brulee bears down on the pair with a scythe while their stamina drains.

At the Germa Kingdom, an attendant informs Judge that the preparations are finished. Reiju presses a stinging gelatinous mask onto Sanji's face, jolting it with electricity until the swelling subsides. She prods him about the origin of his chivalry, which sends Sanji back to his boyhood at the Baratie, where Zeff once kicked him for asking why a woman could not be trained the same harsh way. Zeff declared that a man who fails as a man is better off losing his manhood, and named himself Sanji's parent. Returning to the present, Sanji answers that he is only honoring the universe's old laws before boarding the family carriage bound for the Chateau, seated in silence between Niji and Yonji.

A flashback establishes that Sanji absorbed his code of chivalry from Zeff during his Baratie childhood. The clan of Vinsmokes rides out toward the castle where Big Mom awaits, set for the gift exchange. It becomes clear that biscuits produced by the Bisu Bisu no Mi lose their durability once drenched. Pushed to his limit, Luffy expands into a fresh Gear 4 variant called Tankman: Full Version, absorbs both Cracker and his blade Pretzel, then expels the commander outward through the remaining soldiers and into the distance, landing a heavy blow.

The fan-requested cover art shows Sanji braiding a catfish's whiskers, echoing the way Zeff grooms his moustache. Throughout this installment Luffy is drawn without the scar on his chest, an art error. Reiju notes that even with his face still injured, Sanji's improved appearance will serve him better when he meets Pudding.
