Captain Pedro of the Mink Tribe Guardians

Five years earlier, after Big Mom stripped fifty years from his life, Pedro was escorted from Totto Land by Perospero, who mocked the name of his Nox Pirates. Pedro answered that night gives way to dawn, recalling how as a child he had asked to sail with Roger and Oden. Roger told him to wait, that his own time was short and the boy's turn would come later. After learning from Wanda that Roger had died, Pedro devoted himself to becoming the foundation for the world's dawn that the Straw Hats would usher in.

In the present, Pedro's blast frees Chopper, Brook, and the Sunny from the candy and blows Big Mom away. Carrot tries to run to him, but Nami holds her back. Carrot then charges Katakuri, remembering how Pedro once gifted her the gauntlets she now fights with, only to be crushed underfoot. Luffy intercepts Katakuri with Elephant Gun, grabs hold, and, as the tarte ships open fire and Big Mom bites into the stern, pulls himself and Katakuri through Brulee's mirror. The Sanji Retrieval Team fires Coup de Burst to soar over the blockade, and inside the Mirro-World Luffy shatters the mirror back to the Sunny so he and Katakuri can settle things one on one.

Pedro and Wanda are shown as children, and Pedro's bond with Roger is revealed. Perospero survives the explosion but is gravely injured, releasing his entrapment of Brook, Chopper, and the Sunny. Luffy hauls Katakuri into the Mirro-World and destroys the mirror leading back to the ship. The Thousand Sunny escapes Whole Cake Island and sets course for Cacao Island.

This chapter's flashback recontextualizes Pedro's entire arc, tying his self-destruction to a lifelong purpose rather than mere desperation. Jinbe and Luffy's insistence that the crew press on transforms the loss into resolve, and Carrot's gauntlets become a token of Pedro's faith in the next generation.
