Masira

Masira looks like a man crossed with an ape, decked out in an orange-yellow jumpsuit with headphones and goggles, his arms enormous and his wrists ringed with piercings. A tail drifts in and out of view, clearest when Bellamy tackled him or when he lugged timber to mend the Going Merry. After the timeskip he trades the jumpsuit for a shirt bearing the same design but otherwise looks unchanged.

He puts on a serious front but is in truth goofy and slow-witted, quick to anger, above all at any hint that someone might poach his salvage hauls. For all that, he is warm-hearted and easily charmed by anyone who admires his diving or simply calls him a monkey, and he, like his sworn brother Shoujou, regards Mont Blanc Cricket as a father figure. His signature cackle runs 'Ukikikiki!'

Born in the North Blue, Masira bonded with Shoujou over a shared love of fantastical tales, and the pair swore brotherhood. Eight years before the present, they came to help Cricket chase the legend of Noland and the lost City of Gold. He is monstrously strong, able to floor a giant eel with a single 'Saru Naguri' punch underwater, and his vast lung capacity lets him raise sunken ships by exhaling a colossal air bubble, fitting his Salvage King title. He meets the Straw Hats in the Jaya Arc, briefly ends up aboard the Going Merry before being kicked off, and together with Shoujou helps refit the ship for the climb to Skypiea. After Luffy rings the Shandorian bell and proves the sky island real, the alliance follows Cricket toward their next dream, later combing the seas for the fabled Nakrowa even as Vegapunk's broadcast warns that the world has flooded.
