The Snow, the Mountains, Friendship and Monsters

Usagi and her friends travel to the Moonlight Course ski resort, not realizing Kunzite has tampered with a Moon Princess contest held there as a scheme to expose Sailor Moon.

Spotting the contest advertisement at the Hikawa Shrine, Usagi longs to enter, and the group tells Luna and Artemis they are heading to the mountains to train. Yuuichirou, who grew up nearby, offers his family lodge and tags along, much to Rei's discomfort. Kunzite meanwhile stages the contest as a trap, brushing off Prince Endymion's warning that he badly underestimates the guardians. At the resort Rei and Yuuichirou ski expertly while the others struggle on the gentle slopes, and the promise of the contest lures a fearful Usagi up to the summit.

The first Moon Princess, Saeko Yamamoto, greets the racers and calls the course safe, but partway down she reveals herself as the Youma Blizzar and warps the slope with bumps, a giant snowball, and rising walls that trap Usagi and Rei. Sealed in, the two share a quiet moment over Usagi's music pendant from Tuxedo Mask, and Rei vows they must build a safe world together. Yuuichirou digs them out just as Blizzar strikes; when the monster mistakes Rei for Sailor Moon, Yuuichirou is frozen shielding the girls, freeing them to transform. Endymion intervenes and demands the Silver Crystal, hurling a black rose, yet he still deflects Blizzar's ice spear before Sailor Moon restores Saeko with the Moon Stick.

None of these events occur in the manga. In the Viz dub, Yuichiro shouts a Lord of the Rings line at the oncoming snowball rather than calling out Rei's name. This was the only episode featuring Yuichiro in the first Korean dub. The image song shared by Ami and Rei, I'm Not Relieved, plays before the contest, and the episode marks a fourth Moon Princess contest despite earlier ones never being referenced. Kunzite is seen holding the framed picture of himself alongside Zoisite, the same one shown back in episode 32.
