Reawakening Arc

This is the second arc of the Solo Leveling webtoon, drawn from Chapters 8 through 12 in the novel, Chapters 11 and 12 in the webtoon, and Episode 3 of the anime. It follows the D-Rank Dungeon Arc and leads into the Instant Dungeon Arc. The premise picks up after Jinwoo survives the double dungeon hidden in the Cartenon Temple and rouses in a local hospital three days later, where he first encounters the System: a mysterious program that behaves like a video game and strengthens him for each quest he finishes.

The defining development is the arrival of the System itself, the engine that will drive Jinwoo's entire journey. While recovering in the hospital, he begins to grasp what the program is and how it ties his growth to completed tasks. Locations in the arc stay small in scope, moving between the hospital and a Penalty Zone. Among the figures present are Woo Jinchul, Jinwoo's sister Sung Jinah, and Choi Yoora.

One concrete reward stands out: Jinwoo obtains a Dungeon Key handed to him through the System. This early item signals how the program will continue to dispense tools and rewards as he progresses, laying groundwork for the dungeons ahead.

Several differences separate the adaptations. The novel leaves Han Song-Yi out of the hospital visit entirely, and it grants Jinwoo extra rewards from the System for enduring the Penalty Zone. In the webtoon, the doctor who speaks with Choi Yoora goes unnamed. With the System now established, the story moves forward into the Instant Dungeon Arc.
