Chapter 108

Caught moonlighting as Lunaluna☽Selena, Melinda confesses that reading fortunes is simply her private hobby and pleads with Yor for secrecy, since any whiff of occult dabbling would embarrass Donovan. Yor agrees and praises her for chasing what she loves without hurting anyone, words that touch Melinda and convince her, wrongly, that Yor shares her passion for divination. Anya, panicking that Yor is pulling ahead in their Friendship Scheme rivalry, butts in to request a reading on how to become Damian's friend. The request floors Melinda, who trades her secret for the reading while privately wrestling with dread that Donovan might think she lured Damian here, alongside genuine delight that anyone wants her son as a friend.

Seven tarot cards go down on the table. Melinda cannot parse the Four of Cups, then draws Death and announces the Grim Reaper stands at Anya's side, horrifying the girl and her assassin mother alike. A reversed Star follows, which Melinda reads as Anya never earning another Stella Star. When Melinda asks whether Anya actually likes Damian, the girl flatly says he bullies her, prompting an apology on his behalf. The exchange sends Melinda spiraling into memories of the family dinner where fear kept her from reaching her son, and Anya overhears her terrified thoughts about defying Donovan. Melinda blames exhaustion when Yor checks on her, and when Anya innocently asks whether the Desmonds get along, she abruptly closes the reading. Before Melinda leaves, Yor makes her a suggestion.

Outside, Damian and his friends consult a Ouija board hoping to divine the upcoming history exam's topic, drawing Becky's disapproval. Anya's report of the Grim Reaper prediction rattles Becky and quietly wounds Yor. Loid nearly slips away to tail Melinda, but Anya maneuvers to keep the group together, and he decides the assembled parents are the richer intel source anyway. At day's end, Damian mocks Anya for holding Yor's hand, and she counters that his own mother loves him too, backed by Yor, which sends the blushing boy running. Some days on, at Berlint General Hospital, Gerald Gorey hands Loid a walk-in patient: Melinda Desmond, sent by Yor's recommendation despite garbled praise of his "concussive therapy." Loid accepts eagerly.

Melinda's fortune-telling hobby becomes a shared secret with Yor and Anya. Her tarot reading for Anya produces the Death card and a reversed Star, and her inner thoughts reveal paralyzing fear of Donovan, which Anya hears telepathically. Anya tells Damian directly that Melinda loves him, and Yor reinforces it.

Loid abandons his plan to shadow Melinda in favor of working the festival parents. The chapter closes with Melinda arriving at Berlint General Hospital as Loid's new patient, a breakthrough for Operation Strix.

The 25-page chapter appears in Volume 15 during the Term Break Arc, with Melinda, Yor, and Anya on the cover. Originally slated for November 25, 2024, it was pushed to December 23, 2024 by a manga hiatus, and Jump Festa 2025 previewed its cover two days before release.
