Summary

Armed with only two needles, Loid stalks the party for a window to sedate Yor unseen. A dropped handkerchief gives him cover to fire while bending down, but the drunken Yor sways at exactly the wrong instant and the dart sails past. Down to a single shot, his nerves fray further when Curtis wanders over to check on him.

Yor, meanwhile, resolves to rejoin Loid without liquid courage, and Yuri moves to intercept her, the siblings' odd maneuvering drawing every eye in the room. As Yor closes in, Yuri plants himself in her path and unknowingly blocks the shot. Refusing to reveal assassin-grade strength in front of the SSS, Yor fells her brother with words alone, telling him she simply wants to cuddle with Loid; he collapses in despair.

Reaching Loid at last, Yor is drawn into a half-embrace as he slips the final needle into her neck. Nothing happens. While Loid wonders if the drug needs time, Yor puzzles earnestly over how cuddling is supposed to work, leaving the two frozen in an awkward pose. The dose proves barely effective, merely calming her nerves, and a frustrated Loid silently vows to slash the budget for Franky's inventions.

Curtis's discovery of the unconscious Yuri nudges the officers toward ending the evening, until Wilker quietly demands more time together. Desperate, Loid contemplates manufacturing a crisis, even a small contained fire, before settling on feigned illness. Heading to the bathroom to fake symptoms with makeup, he instead walks in on Lieutenant Nicholson attempting actual arson. A call from headquarters about documents requiring Wilker's signature rescues everyone; Chloe later admits she had arranged for Division 1 to conjure emergency work for Wilker if the night demanded it.

Loid and Yor head home alongside Yuri and Chloe. Pressed on whether the test satisfied him, Yuri deflects, then remembers his promise to depend less on his sister. Once the Forgers part ways, Chloe asks his honest verdict, and Yuri concedes that he does not hate Loid, who kept his word to protect Yor. Chloe teases him and proposes celebratory drinks over him finally moving past his sister fixation, to his irritation.

On the walk, Loid is quietly relieved that Yor shows no sign of remembering Curtis. Exhaustion buckles his legs, and Yor steadies him by the hand, reminding him she is always glad to be leaned on, while he wonders whether she strengthens Operation Strix or endangers it. Blaming his own lack of foresight for the night's chaos, he resolves to be more careful and more perfect, then collapses the moment they reach home, startling Yor and Bond. Anya and Becky return to find him unconscious, and a panicked Martha offers to drive him to the hospital.
