The War Hammer Titan (Chapter)

With Willy Tybur dead, Eren's Attack Titan devours the corpse and tears into the stands before the stage. The crowd stampedes in terror, though General Calvi stands frozen and dies where he stands. Colt pulls Gabi away from the destruction, but Udo stops to retrieve Zofia's crushed body and is swallowed by the fleeing mob, trampled while his horrified friends shelter behind debris.

Lara Tybur silently thanks her brother for his service as family head, then assumes her War Hammer Titan form to confront Eren, who lands the opening blow by driving a punch into her Titan's face. From a distance, Commander Magath hears that the War Hammer may lose, that Calvi and the top brass are believed dead, and that no one has located the Warriors. Rather than evacuate the dignitaries as his men urge, he fires a rifle shot to signal Marley's counterattack.

The duel swings against Eren when the War Hammer conjures an enormous spike from the ground that skewers the Attack Titan through the abdomen and hoists it into the air. Streets away, Colt carries Udo's broken body toward a hospital, unsure whether the boy still lives and worrying over Falco's whereabouts. In the pit where they were lured, Pieck and Galliard feel the tremors of the battle; Pieck guesses Titans are fighting and realizes the trap was meant to remove them from it. The Panzer Unit arrives to pull them out, a rescue Pieck arranged after growing suspicious of the soldier who led them astray. She calls for the Cart Titan's armor but holds Galliard back from rushing in, wanting to read the situation first, and both stare in shock as figures descend on anti-personnel vertical maneuvering equipment.

Eren frees himself by snapping the spike, then narrowly dodges a hammer of hardened Titan material aimed at his skull. Before he can counter, Marleyan cannon fire pins him in place. Some gunners balk at attacking the Founding Titan's holder, but Magath declares that Marley is finished depending on Titan power and names killing Eren Yeager the objective, bringing the anti-Titan artillery to bear. Under the relentless barrage the Attack Titan cannot move, and the War Hammer's next swing takes its head off. Eren emerges from the ruined nape as the soldiers finally see his face. Asked for any last words, he instead calls the signal: Mikasa bursts out at the War Hammer Titan's back and plants eight Thunder Spears in its neck while the Survey Corps ambushes the Marleyan troops. Eren thanks her for coming, and Mikasa answers by asking him to come home.

The War Hammer Titan is the third chapter of volume 25 and the 101st of the series, produced by Hajime Isayama during the Marley arc. It was published in Japan on January 9, 2018, with the English simulpub a day prior, and initially ran under the shorter title War Hammer before the volume release. The anime episode of the same name adapts it.

The chapter sits between Declaration of War and Too Little, Too Late. Its title refers to the Nine Titans member wielded by Lara Tybur, which has a separate entry.
