The War Hammer Titan

A flashback shows Willy Tybur saying goodbye to his family before the festival, then conferring with Theo Magath about the attack both men expect. Willy has concluded that Paradis operatives are already inside Liberio, so he offers himself and Marley's leadership as bait, reasoning that a massacre of Eldian victims before the world's ambassadors will unite every nation against the island. Magath hesitates at the cost, but Willy waves it off; the dead will mostly be Eldians, and the useless Marleyan brass can absorb the rest. They shake hands on the shared admission that they are all devils.

In the present, Eren's Attack Titan devours Willy and tears into the stands. Zofia already lies crushed, and Udo is trampled to death by the stampede as Colt drags Gabi clear. Willy's sister Lara thanks her brother's memory and rises as the War Hammer Titan, whose conjured spikes impale Eren and hoist him skyward. Marleyan cannon fire and the War Hammer's hammer strike shatter the Attack Titan's head, but as Lara moves to finish him, Eren calls out and the Scout Regiment answers, Mikasa's Thunder Spears ripping the War Hammer's nape apart. She lands beside Eren and asks him to come home, then demands he face what he has done to civilians. Eren answers only that the enemy is still alive.

Rescued from their pit by the Panzer Unit, Pieck and Galliard learn a Titan battle is raging and spot soldiers descending on anti-personnel ODM gear. Magath, surviving a bomb thrown into his command post, orders an army division and the fleet to seal Liberio so no island devil escapes. Across the rooftops, Jean scolds Floch for reckless demolitions while Sasha's sniping and Conny's signal lamps advance the escape plan; a grieving Gabi picks up a fallen guard's rifle. Eren deduces that the War Hammer's true body hides underground in a crystal, linked to its Titan by a cable of flesh. He severs the connection and tries to swallow the crystal, but Galliard's Jaw Titan hits his nape first, and only Levi's blades and Mikasa's Thunder Spear drive the Warrior off before the Scouts encircle him.

Flashback reveals that Willy Tybur and Magath deliberately staged the festival as bait, accepting mass Eldian casualties to brand Paradis a global threat. Eren eats Willy, Zofia and Udo die in the opening chaos, and Lara Tybur unveils the War Hammer Titan with its arsenal of hardened weaponry.

Mikasa's intervention saves Eren from execution, and the Scout Regiment opens its coordinated assault on Liberio's garrison. Eren exposes the War Hammer's remote-control mechanism, a crystallized pilot connected by cable, and cuts the link; Galliard's attempted counterattack ends with the Jaw Titan downed and surrounded, marveling that mere humans charge a Titan without fear. Gabi, radicalized by the deaths around her, arms herself and heads for the battle.

MAPPA produced the episode, sixth of season 4 and 65th overall, directed by Takeshi Souki and Takahiro Kaneko from Hiroshi Seko's script. It adapts the chapters Declaration of War, The War Hammer Titan, and Too Little, Too Late, airing January 18, 2021 in Japan and February 14, 2021 in the United States, with My War opening and Shock closing.

Magath supplies the episode's defining line, agreeing with Willy that Eldians are the devil's spawn and that they themselves are devils too. The information segment profiles the War Hammer Titan, the Tybur family's inheritance, encased in a white hardened shell and able to fashion hammers, crossbows, and whips at will.
