Two Brothers

The battle for Shiganshina grinds on. Galliard's Jaw Titan sinks its teeth into the Attack Titan's leg to keep Eren away from the fallen Beast Titan, and Eren answers by hammering the Jaw's nape until Galliard lies critically wounded. Magath lands another shot into Eren from the Cart Titan's cannon before Yeagerist fire drives the Cart back. Across the district, Pixis and Nile lead the garrison assault while Armin and Mikasa fight through pinning gunfire with Connie's Thunder Spear support, and Yelena watches everything unfold from above in silence.

Inside the ruined Beast Titan, Zeke's shredded body knits itself back together. Reiner, shaking the Jaw Titan to rouse its pilot, accidentally passes Galliard a memory of Marcel: proof that his brother lied to protect Porco from ever becoming a Warrior. Colt then reaches Zeke, carrying Falco and pleading for time to carry his little brother beyond earshot, because the boy has swallowed wine tainted with Zeke's spinal fluid. Zeke voices genuine regret, tells Colt he understands a brother's love, and screams anyway. Falco, Pixis, Nile, Roeg, and every dosed Eldian in the district erupt into mindless Titans that turn on the Marleyan lines and butcher them. Colt burns to death shielding a brother who transforms regardless.

On Zeke's orders, the newborn Titan that was Falco lunges at Reiner. Unable to contend with Falco and Eren at once, Reiner peels the armor from his own nape, ready to let the boy take the Armored Titan and end his thirteen years. Galliard, dying, drags himself between them, speaks of the sacrifice Marcel made, and lets Falco devour him instead, passing on the Jaw. Eren hardens his body to escape Reiner's grip, and a Thunder Spear blows Reiner's hand apart. As Eren, back in human form, sprints toward Zeke, Gabi lifts the rifle from Colt's corpse and fires. The round strips Eren's head from his neck while Zeke screams.

Reiner unintentionally transfers Marcel's memory to Galliard, revealing that Marcel manipulated the Warrior selection to shield his younger brother.

Zeke screams despite Colt's plea, transforming Falco, Pixis, Nile, and every spinal-fluid victim into mindless Titans; Colt dies in the blast of his brother's transformation.

Galliard sacrifices himself so that Falco devours him rather than Reiner, making Falco the new Jaw Titan.

Gabi shoots Eren with Colt's rifle, decapitating him in front of Zeke.

Opening volume 30 as chapter 119 overall, this installment reached Japan on July 9, 2019, a day after its English simulpub, deep in the War for Paradis arc. The simulpub carried the alternate title Brothers Older and Younger, and the anime split its content across the episodes Sneak Attack and Two Brothers.

Several art inconsistencies are noted: aerial shots of Shiganshina omit the eastern waterway and the Colossus Titan crater lake, Gabi rides a horse despite chapter 109 establishing she never learned, and Eren's pants and shoes appear whole even though his legs were partly bitten off three chapters earlier. The cliffhanger decapitation became one of the manga's most discussed endings.
