A Dying Light in the Pitch Black Night

Using her luminous body, Schierke reaches Guts inside the cargo hold and takes in the full weight of his mental collapse over losing Casca. His thoughts churn with images of the Dragon Slayer and the countless foes it has cut down, tangled together with memories of Griffith and a swelling hatred that feeds the growing shape of his inner darkness.

When Schierke glimpses an abstract vision of Guts plunging into the deepest reaches of his own despair, the sight so shakes her that she breaks off the astral projection and returns to her body. Roderick, for his part, decides against opening the hold. Out on deck, the crew watch the last of Skellig get dragged down into an enormous whirlpool in the sea.

Far away in Falconia, Band of the Falcon figures Sonia, Mule, Irvine, Locus, and Grunbeld assemble at the harbor beyond the city to await their leader. Zodd glides down a sky path of the World Tree and lands at the port, where the gathered members greet the return of both him and Griffith. Griffith steps off Zodd with Casca still cradled in his arms, an unmistakable smirk on his face.
