Nakeem Grindina

Nakeem is an enormous, heavyset Arrancar who habitually slouches with his hands folded behind his back. His face is broad and round, set with small brown eyes beneath a dark bowl cut, and he wears the usual Arrancar jacket with a Zanpakutō slung at his waist. A fragment of his Hollow mask conceals exactly one half of his face, while the hole in his chest sits hidden under his clothing. In his earlier days he was near-indistinguishable from an ordinary Gillian apart from a one-of-a-kind mask.

Composed and serious, Nakeem tends to take his cues from Shawlong Koufang, echoing his lead and orders. He is a man of remarkably few words, so much so that during his clash with Rangiku Matsumoto he offered only a single reply, naming the technique Sonído when she asked what let the Arrancar move so quickly.

Before his Arrancar days Nakeem was a Gillian roaming Hueco Mundo in Shawlong's group when they encountered the young Adjuchas Grimmjow; after a brief fight they chose to follow him in pursuit of becoming Vasto Lorde, until Shawlong, realizing only Grimmjow could ascend, had him devour a piece of Nakeem to freeze his evolution. On Grimmjow's unsanctioned strike into Karakura Town, Nakeem was paired against Rangiku, whom he overwhelmed with ease while her power was still sealed. The moment her Gentei Reiin limiter was lifted, however, she outpaced him with Shunpo and cut him down with her Shikai, Haineko. His Zanpakutō's name and abilities were never revealed, though he displayed Sonído, the sensory Pesquisa, and a sudden growth in size during the battle.
